Another criminal report has been filed against the mayor of Tropoja, Rexh Byberi. 300 residents of the area accuse Byber of family favoritism.

We recall that a few years ago, the Special Structure Against Corruption and Organized Crime investigated the mayor of Tropoja, Rexh Byberi, after he was accused of abuse of office.

According to the investigations, it turned out that the socialist mayor had granted construction permits in protected areas in violation of the law. The investigation was conducted for several violations committed while Byberi was managing the municipality of Margegaj, from which he resigned in 2015.

Based on the long-term investigations led by the Tropoja prosecutor's office, the SPAK has also concluded that Byberi issued construction permits in violation of the law while holding the office of mayor of Margegaj municipality.

" We, the complainants, are residents of Tropoja Municipality, where we have been harassed by the mayor Rexhe Byberi for about 3 years without finding a solution.

The mayor of Tropoja municipality Rexhe Byberi is involved in criminal activities, and for this reason we are filing this complaint where we accuse him of the criminal offense of "Abuse of duty" provided by article 248 of the Penal Code and the criminal offense of "Passive corruption of high state officials or local elected officials".

This criminal activity is carried out by this mayor with his uncle's sons, one of whom is Avni Byberi , accused by us of the criminal offense of "Active corruption of high state officials or local elected officials" provided for by Article 245 of the Criminal Code and "Cleaning of the proceeds of the criminal offense" provided for by article 287 of the Criminal Code , it is said in the denunciation to the residents.
