When his country was in the midst of chaos, he was one of the first Albanians to go to the Mantova area in 1991 with a ship full of people and only hope. After landing in Brindisi, in the first months he settled in Piacenza and then chose Asola to live. And for the following 33 years, he managed to become a distinguished member of the community and a point of reference for hundreds of other Albanians who already live in the city.
This is what the Italian media write about A. Bisku, 58 years old, who died on April 16 as a result of an accident at the place where he was working. And now this tragedy has shocked the entire Albanian community there. In his house on Pieve Cadelora street, which he managed to buy only a year and a half ago and finished renovating with his own hands, the mortuary doors have been opened. People dressed in black come and go there. Family members, relatives and friends are already near his wife and two children, Aldi, a university student and Adelina, an employee in a company in the area.
Chairs are spread out in the yard, a table and a cigarette tray are placed. A tradition of Albanians to offer to those who are close to them in these difficult days. Now the family is waiting for the green light for the funeral. 58-year-old Bisku has expressed in the past his wish to be buried in his homeland.
In 1991 he left the city of Kavaja to go to Italy. He settled in Asola together with 5 other friends. After finding work as a bricklayer, he later took with him his brother, the woman who later became his wife, and other compatriots whom he helped to find homes, work and integrate into the community. And when he arrived in Asola there were only 6 Albanians, now there are about 600 of them. His story is an inspiration to others.
"He came for a better future. He knew that he would never return, but he wanted to help his family", remember his relatives.
In Albania, they saw him as "grandfather" because when he went to his homeland, he would send them clothes and other things. But not only in the homeland, also in Italy the words about him are very good. There he also found his passion for Juventus and did not miss any of their matches. After many efforts, he managed to buy a house in Asola and another in his hometown.
"I knew him for many years. He was a very active person in the community", said the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality, Luciano Carminati.
Bisku was working for a company renovating a building. While destroying a small terrace inside the building's inner enclosure, he fell from a height of 3 meters and hit his head. One of the beams supporting the attic was found broken. At that moment he was alone and there are no witnesses, but this is most likely the cause of the accident, according to Italian media.
Investigations have been launched into the incident after Bisku was found without a protective helmet and it will be checked if it was mandatory to wear one in the type of work he was doing.
