The Constitutional Court has postponed the session scheduled for today regarding the granting of concession to the National Park of Butrint.
The Constitutional Court decided to postpone the request for Butrinti with the argument that the 36 signatory deputies as parties in this case do not have the authorization to represent them. The next session is scheduled to be held on July 11 at 10:00 am.
The Criminal Report was made by the Democratic Party, where it claims that in the concession project of this cultural heritage, 13 violations of international conventions, the Paris Convention and the Charter of Local Government have been committed.
"We are in relation to the request we made, while we are represented by Ms. Metaliaj and Mr. Spaho, where they will present the lawsuit of 36 opposition MPs for Butrinti park. I hope that the parties will be present and that Minister Margariti will defend her concession. I hope that the two CEOs of the American-Albanian foundation will be present. I wish they were here to state their theses and facts, so that we could face arguments. There are 13 violations by court decision, of international conventions, of Paris and of the Charter of Local Government. Today we start with the full confidence that the Constitutional Court will give the verdict to protect the national identity", said MP Ina Zhupa to the media before entering the Constitutional Court.
Meanwhile, to the question of what Butrinti risks if the court does not give the decision expected by the opposition, Zhupa answered that;
"Restaurants, souvenirs, bars are being built in Butrint in an area that is protected. The power to monitor our national wealth is removed and left to a private one. Any finds made in Butrint will be alienated. Butrint is also removed from the competence of all state bodies. The Paris Convention prohibits foundations from taking over administration, so the administration of assets in UNESCO must be administered by the state. Today, Butrinti has 2 million dollars in its coffers, collected by the Albanian government, which will be transferred to the Butrinti Foundation as part of the inequality for Butrinti."
