The case of 2.2 tons of cocaine in Peru and the escape of two Albanians has brought to light other details from the investigation. Franci Malo and Gentjan Meta respectively had entered illegally via Ecuador to Peru and settled in a luxury hotel in Trujillo.

They were kept under surveillance while the shipment of cocaine which was hidden in cans of asparagus was finalized during the Bitcoin operation as the payment would be made through cryptocurrencies.

But what the authorities have discovered is that their hotel registration was not done with their real names. One of the identification tools used by Franci Malo belongs to a 27-year-old man living in Tirana, but Gentjan Meta is also suspected as an identity of another person, used by traffickers.

This has led the Peruvian police to seek help from the Albanian police regarding the identification of two persons through photos and video footage of the hotel, but to begin the verification of persons whose identities have been used. This is not the first time that the trafficking of hard drugs is done through Latin American countries by Albanians.

Only during the last months some cargoes have been caught in the port of Durrës, although the attention of criminal groups is the Netherlands and Belgium.
