Albanian migrants who have entered the UK illegally are marrying fake women and children so they can stay in the country in exchange for paying up to £30,000, The Telegraph reports, based on an investigation by authorities. British.

Fake "marriages" are being promoted on the social media platform TikTok by Albanian gangs who have recruited single mothers with children to provide documentary evidence.

They are offered to Albanian prisoners who want to fight deportation from Great Britain as well as immigrants who have entered England illegally.

It is the latest migration scam to be promoted on the site, which has been used by people smugglers to advertise English Channel crossings. Albanians made up more than a quarter of the record 45,577 migrants who crossed the Channel in small boats last year.

A TikTok account, created on May 10, offered to act as an intermediary for illegal Albanian immigrants and British or EU mothers, as well as "guarantors" who would also provide a false address in England, so so they could get the immigration bond. An immigrant held in detention can only leave on bail if they have a place to live in England.

The ad said: “We have boys and girls for marriage. Guarantor for boys who are in jail [immigration detention centers]. Lady with child. Register of paternity. Applications for obtaining documents from Albania with foreign girls".

A second ad on the same account said: “Applying to receive documents as a stepparent. It's very easy".

The move follows evidence last year that Albanians were the most likely nationality to use sham marriages to take advantage of the EU settlement scheme, which allowed EU residents to stay permanently in England.

Of the 365 couples who tried to fraudulently use the post-Brexit scheme, giving EU citizens and their spouses the right to stay in the UK, 146 were Albanian, according to Home Office figures.

"We accept apartments or cars"

As part of the investigation into the latest marriage fraud, an Albanian TV reporter posed as a potential client with another person who had entered the UK illegally.

They expressed interest in how he could get permission to stay in England in response to an advertisement that said: "To all interested people who receive documents on the England number below the profile. As a form of payment, we accept apartments or cars in exchange for documents".

The facilitator listed their prices, saying: “30,000 pounds for a woman with one child. 5,000 pounds deposit then 25,000 pounds when you get the certificate with your name as the father of that child.

“£20,000 to register as a stepfather. £5,000 deposit and £15,000 when you receive cards. £25,000 per wedding. You pay 10,000 pounds, then when you receive documents 15,000 pounds.

After being alerted to the ads by The Telegraph, TikTok said it had removed them and suspended the accounts. A spokesperson for the company said: “Our community guidelines are clear that we prohibit content that attempts to facilitate smuggling and human trafficking.

"We have removed the shared content and permanently banned accounts for violating these guidelines."

The government has negotiated new deportation agreements with the Albanian government in an effort to curb migrant crossings. Home Secretary Suella Braverman told MPs last week that the Home Office had deported 1,750 Albanian offenders and illegal immigrants since the latest deal was reached last November.

A Home Office spokesperson said: “Social media companies, such as TikTok, have a responsibility to remove posts and ban content that promotes illegal and criminal activity – we take spousal and partner abuse of immigration pathways very seriously.

"We will not hesitate to take enforcement action against individuals found in a sham marriage or civil partnership, including canceling their leave and removing them from England."
