A video is circulating online showing a police officer approaching and punching, while holding a rubber baton, DP Presidency member Grigels Muçollari in the ribs during yesterday's protest.
Meanwhile, the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party, through Chairman Gazment Bardhi, has today filed a complaint with SPAK and the Tirana Prosecutor's Office against the Minister of Interior, Ervin Hoxha; the General Director of Police, Ilir Proda; the Director of the Tirana Local Directorate, Elton Alushi, and other State Police officials after the rally held on Monday.
They accuse Minister Hoxha and the police leadership chain of protesting for committing the criminal offenses of "Other intentional damage", "Abuse of office", "Committing arbitrary actions", "Failing to take measures to end the illegal situation", "Violation of the equality of citizens", "Obstruction in the exercise of the right to express oneself, gather or demonstrate", committed in collaboration.
"The violence inflicted on MPs, opposition political officials and citizens was politically motivated and a serious criminal act committed in collaboration with State Police officials," the DP press office announced.
We recall that in connection with yesterday's protest, 7 protesters were arrested while 40 opposition MPs were prosecuted.
