Jetmir Pepa, wanted by SPAK, has reportedly been arrested in Dubai, and is expected to be extradited to Albania to face the charges brought against him by SPAK.

According to SPAK, Pepa is suspected of being part of a criminal group that was hit during a large-scale operation against international drug trafficking. Investigations by the Special Prosecution Office have revealed suspicions that the criminal organization trafficked large amounts of cocaine from Latin America to various European countries.

Authorities suspect that the profits derived from criminal activity were then invested in various sectors in Albania, with the aim of laundering the money and hiding its origin.

Pepa's arrest was made possible thanks to cooperation between Albanian and United Arab Emirates authorities.

Sources close to the investigation indicate that the procedures for his extradition to Albania are expected to begin in the coming days.

The operation is considered another blow by SPAK against international drug trafficking networks and money laundering schemes that are suspected of operating for years in the region.
