An amount of 60 thousand euros was taken from the cash register of the "OTP Bank" bank by the perpetrator who on December 2 easily penetrated the premises and then easily left immediately using a scooter.
The Tirana police and prosecution, through a series of cameras, have managed to detect the robber's movement direction, but have not yet been able to identify him.
Journalist Elton Qyno has learned that at this point in the investigation, suspicions suggest that the robber may have collaborated with a member of the bank's staff, as he was physically inside the bank's premises at two very random moments.
First, the robber appeared "in a flash" inside the bank premises, as soon as the security guard at the outer door, Fehmi Cullhaj, had gone to the toilet for personal needs.
Cullhaj, in his testimony before the police, stated that:
"...I was in the bathroom when the bank vault robbery happened. I didn't lock the bank door from the inside, because I instinctively forgot..."
Secondly, a strange coincidence is the fact that the robber entered the bank and appeared at the cash register, when exactly the 3 cashiers of this bank had just received the financial currency.
As a rule, they were supposed to keep a certain amount of money in the cash register, no more than 30 million lek. But on the day of the incident, under the threat of the robber's gun, the 3 cashiers handed over a total of about 60 thousand euros.
These suspicious actions have raised some strong questions for the investigative team, creating the belief that the robber in this case may have collaborated with a bank employee who was inside the bank that day.
Until now, these remain only strong suspicions, but without being able to provide convincing evidence of a collaboration between the robber and the bank employee, with the aim of robbing monetary sums from the cash register of "OTP Bank".
More than 5 people were taken to the police station and questioned, but were later released. Currently, no one has been identified and arrested by the police as the robbers.
Meanwhile, yesterday, the Tirana court, at the request of the prosecution, decided to impose the security measure "House arrest" on the bank security employee, citizen Fehmi Cullhaj.
The door security guard is accused by the Tirana prosecution of "Abuse of duty"./ syri
