Even former prosecutor Eugen Beci is convinced that the claim given for the case of the Elbasan incinerator is without investigation and evidence.
Invited to the show Zona Zero in Top Neës, Beci stated that in a democratic state there is a need for investigations and evidence
"These are laziness of an investigation, not to go deep into an investigation and get a report and stay there. In a democratic state, the fact needs investigation and evidence. In a democratic state, trials are held in courtrooms and not in movie theaters, here it differs from popular trials. The court should look at this issue coldly, not think that the Prosecutor should always be right. Today, in front of justice, we have businessmen and people who have spent their whole lives in the public administration, and you punish without evidence, without investigating, based on evidence that may be political. The criminal fact must be presented with irrefutable evidence." - said Beci.
He further added that in our country there is a scandal where we have more businessmen convicted than officials.
Regarding the term "actual owner" used for the businessman Mirel Mërtiri, the former prosecutor said that this term does not exist at all in the law and it is expected to see what position the court will take.
"We are in front of a limited liability company that has no owner. There is no actual ownership in Albania, we may have a shareholder, but not an actual owner. This charge seems unfounded in law and evidence. It is expected to see what attitude the court will take in relation to this charge." - said Beci.
