
Other details have been made public regarding the assassination attempt the previous night in Saranda (October 4), where 58-year-old Isuf Jaçaj, a person with a criminal record, was killed by a car bomb.
While his son is in prison for a double injury two months ago.
It is learned that the crime may have been committed by two people, while the police have so far escorted 10 people and questioned residents of neighborhood 3 in Saranda.
The victim, also known by the nickname "Bushi", had a criminal past, with violent episodes dating back to before the 2000s. In June 2010, Jacaj was injured after a conflict with sharp objects in neighborhood no. 4, while in October 2011 he escaped a gun attack, also in Saranda. In July 2022, he was involved in another clash, where he was arrested with a punching bag, while another person was caught with a gun.
In recent years, Jacaj had been engaged in the tourism sector, transporting tourists with his speedboat to the coastal areas around Saranda.
The main line of investigation, revenge for the boy
One of the main leads being investigated is that of revenge, in relation to the event of July 17, 2025, where the victim's son, Klaus Jacaj, 31 years old, currently arrested for "supporting the perpetrator of the crime", is suspected of having been involved in a serious criminal event.
In that incident, Ramadan Zoto wounded two people, Gëzim Hajdaraj and Ernest Lama, with a gun in neighborhood no. 4 of Saranda.
Just a few days after that incident, on July 21, a person wearing a silicone mask placed explosives in Klaus Jacaj's vehicle, completely destroying it. The case remains unsolved and the perpetrators have not been identified.
Today, at around 22:50, in neighborhood no. 3, Saranda, it is suspected that a quantity of explosive material placed in a Toyota vehicle, owned by citizen IJ, exploded. This citizen is suspected to be the person inside the vehicle who lost his life as a result of the explosion.
The investigation team is at the scene and is continuing its work to identify and apprehend the perpetrator(s), fully clarify the circumstances of the incident, and document it legally.
