Gezime and Flamur Sula told the tragic story of their daughter, Ilaria Sula, who was stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend, Mark Samson, on the show Verissimo (Italy).

He admitted to the crime only after initially hiding the girl's body and staging her departure, sending messages from Ilaria's phone to her friends and parents to create the impression that she had left willingly.

"March 25, 2025 was the last day we spoke to Ilarian. For us, she was killed that very day," say the parents, convinced that the murder was premeditated, unlike what the perpetrator stated in court. "He had planned everything," they say.

Ilaria 's parents raised the alarm when the girl did not get off the train she was supposed to take home from Rome, where she was studying.

They immediately went to Rome and filed a complaint with the police, where they also met Mark Samson .

"He told me: 'I'm sorry we met in this situation.' He told me that he hadn't seen Ilaria in a month because they had separated. I asked him if it was related to the disappearance and he swore on the grave of his mother – who is actually alive – saying: 'I wouldn't touch a single hair of Ilaria's, I love her,'" Flamur Sula recounts.

During the days when Ilaria was missing, Mark Samson sent messages from her phone to make it seem like she had left willingly.

It was her brother, Leon, who managed to track down the phone, which ended up in Mark's house. This led investigators to the discovery of the crime and then to the perpetrator's confession.

Ilaria Sula's lifeless body was found on April 2 in a suitcase thrown into a ravine. Mark Samson's mother, who has already received a two-year prison sentence, had also helped clean up the crime scene and hide the body.

Ilaria's parents have never accepted her apologies.

"How dare you apologize to us after cleaning up our daughter's blood and trampling on her blood?" they say.

Ilaria's mother's story is among the most painful.

"Just like I touched her for the first time when she was born, I held her with my own hands on the last day. I wanted to wash her myself, to touch her body. I told my husband: I want to buy a princess dress for our daughter, because she was the princess of the house. I went and bought her a dress and shoes," Gezime recounts through tears.

She goes to her daughter's grave every day.

"I go every day, sit down and talk to her about the dreams she didn't get to realize. She couldn't wait to graduate. Today, it's Ilaria who gives me the strength to continue, I'm here to seek justice for her."

Today, for Gezime and Flamur, life is no longer the same.

"Our lives have completely changed. We no longer live, we survive. We move forward for our son Leon and to get justice for our daughter Ilaria. The smile will never return to our faces, but Ilaria must have justice."
