Two videos circulating on social media have sparked concern in the capital, as they show two women wearing headscarves performing unusual movements near a red van. In one of the images, one of the women covers her face when she notices she is being filmed, adding to the suspicions and reactions of citizens.
The content of the videos has been linked online to allegations of danger to minors, which has significantly increased public panic. However, according to journalist Merin Maçi, so far there has been no official complaint to the police or other competent institutions.
He explained that preliminary verifications show that these are two different people, members of the Mujahideen camp in Manza. According to the data, they were on the move to receive medical services, while the red van serves to transport members to health centers.
The police have launched an investigation on their own initiative, examining both the content of the videos and the possibility of deliberate misinformation. Up to this stage, the footage does not indicate any direct contact or communication with minors.
"We are dealing with two different people, what has been learned so far is that they are two members of the Mujahideen camp who are in Manzë. Although this video has been circulating on the internet, this video was published on Friday, while another one was published today. There is no real complaint to the police, or to another authority that deals with its verification, but given that the content of the complaint on social networks is related to minors, the police have launched an investigation on their own initiative and the investigation is currently ongoing.
At least from the footage, there is no communication with the minor. Both members of the MEK camp, at least from the verifications so far, have been on the move to receive medical services. There are even several points at which they receive medical services. The red van, seen in the first video, is a van that serves to transport MEK members to health centers. The police are also conducting accurate verifications of their identities, but they have been verified to be from the MEK camp, but we are dealing with a camp where there are more than 2 thousand mujahideen.
"At least so far, what has been confirmed to me by the police is that two leads are being investigated: One related to this denunciation that was made on social networks and not before the authorities. The second lead has to do with disinformation due to the background they have. It could be an attempt to create resentment towards the camp," journalist Merin Maçi explained in "Opinion."
