The Crime Investigation Specialists at the Gjirokastra Police Station referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office, where criminal proceedings were initiated against citizen EK, 33 years old, resident of Gjirokastra, for the criminal offense of "Spreading false information that incites panic". The 33-year-old's cell phone was seized as material evidence," the police statement said.

The citizens of Gjirokastra have faced a wave of panic in recent days, following the spread of news on social networks about an alleged situation of the spread of HIV/AIDS.

The mayor and several employees of the institution have been placed at the center of these allegations, which has further increased concern among public opinion.
