Prime Minister Edi Rama was in a meeting with agro-tourism representatives in Tirana today. Among other things, Rama spoke about the Mountain Package and the new law on tourist ports.
The Prime Minister dismissed rumors that the government is giving ports to oligarchs, while the new law, according to him, is necessary to stop dragging investors away.
Meanwhile, he added that Albania has a very big problem with ship anchorages.
"They said that the government is giving the ports to the oligarchs. The change is necessary to not hinder and drag down investors who invest on the coast, and they come with a project that has a small amount and the answer they get is they get permission for this part, but for the Navy, a tender is needed.
With the existing law, since the sea is under the total administration of the state, for the tourist ports that the government puts out to competition, there is a competition, while you tell someone else to invest all this here, but for parking there will be a competition. It will become a war zone.
We are a country that has a huge deficiency in anchorage points at sea. There is also talk of small ports. Everything is talked about in a negative way, it is not their fault, they have not been involved in state affairs for years.
The Mountain Package does not pave the way for investments in national parks, but it allows for investments in protected areas for non-massive developments.
