The well-known cardiac surgeon Edvin Prifti returns to practice his profession 1 year and 3 months after the suspension.
The decision was taken today by the Special Court, which decided to overturn the "suspension from office" measure.
The priest is being investigated for corruption and money laundering.
"For me as a doctor, leaving me outside the operating room is like taking my life. I have no opportunity to destroy evidence, as the prosecution claims. They have been investigating me for almost two years and have had time to collect every piece of evidence. The doctor cannot spoil the evidence by operating on the heart of citizens".
This is what the former head of cardiology at the University Hospital center, Edvin Prifti, declared before the Court of Special Appeals, requesting that the latter annul the measure of suspension from practicing the profession.
The name of the Priest appeared in SPAK's wiretapping while he was investigating a case of corruption in the Court of Kruja, where the former judge Enkelejda Hoxha ended up in handcuffs, and since then, the cardiologist is following a tough confrontation with justice.
The doctor specialized in several universities of the West in his field and with several years of experience was suspended for the second time, after a new investigative case opened against him, where he was accused by a citizen of having taken a sum of money for the mother's surgery.
The suspicions were that the doctor had taken the valve from the state hospital and put it on the patient, but from the verifications carried out at QSUT, it turned out that there was one missing, and therefore, the lawyers said, the prosecution's claim was dropped.
However, the court did not back down, leaving the doctor's suspension in effect until August.
