The Constitutional Court rejects Vangjel Dule: No one has asked for the
Constitutional Court / Fredi Beleri

The Constitutional Court has responded to the accusations and news in the media that it is delaying the hearing on the case of the elected mayor of Himara Municipality, Alfred Beleri.

In a reaction to the media, the Constitutional Court says that none of the parties, until now, has filed any request to request an acceleration of the process for Beler.

This statement refutes the claims of Vangjel Dules and a group of militants who protested in front of the Constitutional Court, accusing it of delaying the consideration of the case.

Reaction of the Constitutional Court:

Today, on 05.02.2024, the President of the Constitutional Court, Mrs. Holta Zaçaj, organized a press conference with journalists and media representatives, in order to present the annual report of the Court's activity for the year 2023.

At the end of her speech, the President answered the questions of some journalists present, one of which was about the case with the petitioner Mr. Dhionisios Alfred Beleri. In relation to this question, the Chairperson informed that the case has passed for consideration in the plenary session and that none of the parties involved in this process has submitted a request for speeding up the trial.

Based on the way this information was conveyed in some media, we clarify once again that in this case none of the parties in the constitutional trial has submitted a request to the Court for the acceleration of this trial.

Regarding the petition of some residents of the Municipality of Himara, the latter do not have the status of a party in this trial, in the sense of Article 39 of the organic law of the Court, therefore this petition is not considered as a request for acceleration for the purposes of the constitutional trial .
