Reform in Justice for the majority of lawyers who deal with civil cases has brought a great handicap in matters of divorces, protection orders, property division, or many other issues related to marital problems.

Jurists sound the alarm and demand the immediate intervention of the High Council of Justice on this matter. Journalist Armand Bajrami with the camera of A2Cnn talked to some of them, showing the reality in court.

In the Tirana court, out of the 75 judges it had, in 2023 they will start work with 37 judges. Of these, 15 are from the criminal chamber and 22 are from civil cases.

According to data provided by the court by journalist Bajrami, in 2022, 20,826 civil cases were registered, while 17,600 cases were carried over from the previous year.

But a simple divorce court process that used to take 3 months to 1 year before the 2016 justice reform now has to take 2 to 3 years. Such a procedure has many consequences, related to domestic violence and protection orders, since the spouses who are going to divorce are forced to live under the same roof, and moreover, the children are the most affected by all these procedures of justice overdue.

"A marriage that was being dissolved and one of the partners had started another relationship and was expecting a child. And there was a problem where the child of the new relationship would be registered. There will be a later solution, but a child who is born is deprived of the right to receive a name and surname", said lawyer Bledar Meminaj, showing one of the new cases of a child who was born and cannot receive one. surname due to protracted divorce proceedings.
