The Tirana court rejected Dritan Goxhaj's request to gain freedom.

The black squads have left in effect the security measure of arrest in prison with the aim of extraditing him to Kosovo where he is accused of obstruction of justice.

The 40-day term of the security measure has expired for the former KLA soldier, and the defense claims that as long as Kosovo's justice has not brought additional evidence for extradition, Goxhaj should have won his freedom.

Goxhaj was arrested on July 31 at the request of the Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo, which accuses him of intimidating witnesses in the process against the leaders of the KLA for war crimes, by publishing their names.

The arrest of the former member of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Dritan Goxhajt, sparked protests in Tirana. Citizens demand his release and warned of another protest on September 12
