The theses of the antiquity of the Albanian language have been the focus of Albanianologists, linguists and foreign researchers at the Academy of Sciences for two days.

It was the study published a year ago in the journal "Science" about the earlyness of the Indo-European languages, which brought back the discussions once again, but this time the author Paul Heggarty himself was present, who clarified the methods followed on the dating of the developments of Indo-European languages, including the Albanian language.

"It was a big study that took us 7-8 years of work. I want to clarify that the study of a year ago did not only talk about the antiquity of the Albanian language, but about the entire family of Indo-European languages, which are just as old. The Albanian language is an early language that has its place in the linguistic tree and is separate from the others, a known fact, but with the study we have done we reinforce this fact and give new dates for this language, but without being able to give a concrete dating figure."

The theses of the study, authored by Paul Heggarty, suggest that Indo-European dates back to 8,100 years ago, while 6,000-7,000 years ago the first branchings took place, including the branching of the Albanian language. While the methods of his scientific research are seen with a critical approach.

"The method we used comes from biology, DNA, which was developed by mathematicians. It is a new method much debated by linguists and of course we should be very careful about any kind of conclusion. We are trying to find the chronology of the development of the Indo-European language family."

Discussions on the antiquity of languages ​​also take into account recent archaeological findings, which are the only ones that can clarify theses of the antiquity of languages.
