The Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime has today eased the security measure for oncologist Edmond Gashi.

Under "house arrest", doctor Gashi has been released with a 20 million ALL (old) property guarantee. Gashi's passport has been blocked to prevent him from leaving the country.

The investigators say that the doctor Edmond Gashi, in cooperation with his colleagues, referred patients diagnosed with cancer to a private clinic, which turns out to be in the name of his father Halil Gashi.

For each patient who was referred for treatment at a private hospital, according to the Prosecutor's Office, the Oncology doctors benefited from significant sums of money.
