The capture of Besnik Nikolli, known as Niko or El Gordo, caused alarms in Colombia, considering that the trafficker of Albanian origin was located in Santa Marta and it is assumed that he would seek contacts with other drug trafficking organizations, to expand ties his.

"Since October 2021, the alias Niko has been wanted by the French authorities for drug trafficking. He would also be involved in money laundering crimes and was wanted in more than 180 countries," the Colombian Prosecutor's Office said.

However, the case of 'El Gordo' is not the only one, since the name of Lirido Ajaz or Lirido Shukurtaj, who is also known by the nickname 'Mario' and wanted by justice in Lyon, France, stands out in the data of the Colombian authorities.

Regarding the latter, it is suspected that he had access to several sea ports on the Atlantic coast, from where the shipment of cocaine to Europe was coordinated. It is even reported that he would meet Nikolli in Bogota.

The two arrested persons have been placed at the disposal of the General Prosecutor's Office of Colombia and it is expected that after their judicial proceedings the extradition processes to the countries where they are wanted will begin.

According to foreign media, the case of Lirido Ajazi and Besnik Nikolli is not a coincidence, as the operation of international criminals with high criminal precedents in Colombia has been documented in recent months.
