Flames burn down 400 olive trees, 54-year-old arrested in flagrante delicto

A 54-year-old man has been arrested by police in Mallakastër, suspected of causing a fire in the area called "Qafa e Vidhit".

Police announce that after receiving information about the fire, services went to the scene to assist the firefighting forces and to investigate the causes of the fire.

A 54-year-old man was found near the fire, suspected of starting it. As a result of the spread of the flames, around 400 olive trees were burned.

He was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offense of "Destruction of property by fire".

The procedural materials have been referred to the Fier Prosecutor's Office for further action. Meanwhile, the police have appealed to citizens to avoid starting fires, as they can bring serious consequences to property and the environment.
