Fire in Phoenix

The massive fire that engulfed the hills of the villages of Kostar and Vllahat i Mesopotam in the municipality of Finiqi quickly became a danger to residents.

The flames advanced to the courtyards of the apartments.

Authorities intervened immediately by evacuating residents and creating a perimeter to contain the fire's progress.

Around 40 firefighting forces from Delvina, Finiqi and Konispol arrived in the area, while 3 helicopters of the Armed Forces were activated from the air.

Authorities say the response was immediate and that it is still too early to determine the cause of the fire.

MALLAKASTËR – Earlier, another hotbed was activated near the village of Hekal in Mallakastra.

The flames, favored by strong winds, spread rapidly over an area of over 10 hectares of olive groves and shrubs.

Six fire engines from Ballsh, Patos, and Roskovec participated in the operation. After several hours, the flames were neutralized.

LIBRAZHD – Meanwhile in Librazhd, after 6 days of intensive efforts, emergency authorities managed to bring under control the active fire in the Dardha forest area, on the border with Sopot, preventing the flames from spreading further. The head of Civil Emergencies, Haki Çako, also went there.

Çako said that emergency services are on standby throughout the country to deal with the situation created by the fires.
