The parents of the 1-year-old infected with HIV have fought a "legal battle" in Italy. After the ordeal of obtaining a residence permit, the Juvenile Court in Rome granted him the right to stay in Italy for a period of 2 years.

The decision was taken by the Court of Minors of Rome, which argues in its letter, that taking into account the successive hospitalizations and the need for more specialized care, the stay of the baby in Italy is authorized.

According to the Court, this is necessary considering the minor's health. The 1-year-old is suspected to have been infected with HIV in the hospital premises. 

For this matter, the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana will start investigations to reveal the truth about how the 1-year-old child was infected with HIV, at a time when the parents tested negative.
