After 30 days of fasting, Muslim believers celebrate Eid al-Fitr today, where this morning hundreds of believers prayed in Skanderbeg Square.
Although the square was packed with believers who wanted to pray the Eid al-Fitr prayer, some of them did not arrive because the prayer started a little earlier.
The Muslim Community of Albania reacted to this, clarifying the situation and emphasizing that it was an event that occurred for the first time in the organization of Eid, which was caused by technical communication reasons in Skanderbeg Square.
Full reaction:
Reaction to the concerns of believers regarding the Eid prayer in Skanderbeg Square.
The Muslim Community of Albania, taking responsibility for the failure to implement the Eid prayer schedule concisely according to the previously announced announcement, shares the very legitimate concerns of believers. This is an event that has occurred for the first time in the organization of Eid, which was caused by technical communication reasons in Skanderbeg Square. In addition, we express the following explanation on how believers should act in this case.
In history, it has happened many times that some of the believers did not reach the Eid prayer. This also happened during the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him), where Anas b. Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) did not reach the Eid prayer. The Prophet (peace be upon him) told him to pray the prayer at home individually or collectively with his family, without delivering a sermon. And Anas b. Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) prayed the Eid prayer with his family.
Most jurists, based on this "hasan" narration found in Ibn Abu Shaybah's work al-Musannaf and the opinion shared by Ibn Abbas, Ibn Mas'ud, and Ali Ibn Abu Talib (may Allah be pleased with them), have stated that whoever was unable to pray the Eid prayer with the congregation of believers can pray it, in the traditional form, individually or together with family members.
Any believer who has not been able to perform the Eid prayer today can perform it as Anas b. Malik (ra) did, on the first day of Eid or the second day in the morning, starting from about 30 minutes after sunrise until about 30 minutes before the noon meal begins.
Expressing our apologies for the situation in question, we ask for your valuable understanding. We wish you once again a Happy Eid al-Fitr!
