Cannabis Farm

A 30-year-old Albanian man has been sentenced to community service in England after being caught on a cannabis farm in Banbury. It is about the citizen Mateo Dedej.

English media reports that the Albanian has declared in the courtroom that he got into cannabis cultivation after losing his job as a chef in one of London's restaurants during the pandemic period. Dedej justified himself by saying that he had decided to look for a job and that he was threatened by drug gangsters to engage in the cultivation of narcotic plants.

"They threaten people and keep them working under pressure, exploiting them while giving them only food and no money in return," declared Dedej.

The plant was discovered when police broke down the doors of the property on Edmunds Street and found Dedeyn trying to escape through the back of the house. Inside, there were a total of 61 cannabis plants growing under an array of heat lamps in two rooms. The pots and soil in the living room showed evidence of a previous harvest.

The cannabis plants seized would have produced around 3.5kg of the class B drug. The drug was valued at £18,000 if sold on the wholesale market, but could be worth £45,000 if broken up into smaller street deals .

Mateo Dedej had immigrated to Italy at the age of 9 and after finishing school where he was trained to become a cook and then a chef in England where he also entered illegally. Dedej was sentenced to 15 months in prison which was commuted to 100 hours of unpaid community service.
