The President of the Constitutional Court, Holta Zaçaj, has requested an interpretation from the Venice Commission regarding the continuation of her mandate at the head of this court after 2025.
Holta Zaçaj was elected to the position, replacing Vitore Tusha, but in her position she emphasizes that the end date of the mandate should not be 2017.
Zaçaj seeks an opinion from Venice to interpret the provisions of the Constitution, so that similar cases do not create a deadlock in the composition and decision-making of the Constitutional Court.
The Supreme Court, in its decision no. 2, dated 16.01.2023, declared that Zaçaj as a member of the Constitutional Court has a partial mandate until the renewal in 2025.
According to experts, the end of 2025 should be considered the end of Zaca's term.
