For the unsaid of breast cancer.
It is not only the woman diagnosed with breast cancer who should be talked about every October and every day of the year.
The relatives of a woman without breast(s), without hair and without much power to think about tomorrow are also something to speak strongly about.
Parents who are still alive and watch the child cling to life…
Spouses who fear a life without the one they thought they would have by their side forever…
Children who feel cold at the idea of a nest that might disappear…
Cancer is not a disease of the individual. It is a family disease.
One of the strongest elements of dealing with cancer is physical fitness. Not only body mutilation, but hair loss from treatments as well.
When I started chemo, the doctor offered me the possibility of a practice that could save some of my hair: during chemo I could wear a hood with electrodes and ice on my head to prevent the hair follicles from being carried away by the chemo.
I told the doctor: "I have been diagnosed with breast cancer." My girls deserve to see how life is fought for. I do not hide from the war and the uniform of this war is a head without hair!".
The wisest act of love for life and for our family was when, in the middle of the salon, my husband and I shaved every possible hair with the precision of a guild barber.
There were tears, laughter and jokes like:
- Now we will save on shampoo! (and others like this.)
