Two people have been arrested by the Police in Kakavija after they attempted to smuggle cocaine and hunting ammunition into Albanian territory.

The blue uniforms inform that the following citizens have been arrested:

EN, 48 years old, resident of Berat, for the criminal offense of "Production and sale of narcotics". The 48-year-old attempted to enter Albania with cocaine in his vehicle.

I.Gj., 49 years old, resident of Patos, for the criminal offense of “Unlicensed production and possession of hunting and sporting weapons.” The 49-year-old attempted to smuggle 250 hunting cartridges into Albania.

During the search of citizen EN's vehicle and the physical search of him, the Police services found and seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, 2 cell phones and 3,700 euros.

During the search of the van driven by citizen I. Gj., the Police services found and seized 10 boxes of hunting cartridges (a total of 250 cartridges), which he had not declared in accordance with the law and was not equipped with a permit to transport them.

Police announcement:

Kakavije/Intensive controls by the Border Police continue to prevent and crack down on criminal activities.

2 cases of illegalities at the border are cracked down on.

He attempted to enter Albania with cocaine in his vehicle, was caught by Border Police services and the 48-year-old was arrested.

He attempted to smuggle hunting ammunition into Albania, was caught by the Border Police services and the 49-year-old was prosecuted.

The narcotic substance cocaine, 3,700 euros and 250 hunting cartridges were seized.

The Kakavije Border Police Services, in continuation of their work to combat cross-border crimes, based on risk analysis, have passed through a second-line check, at the entrance to the Republic of Albania, the vehicles driven by citizens EN and I. Gj.

-During the search of citizen EN's vehicle and the physical search of him, the Police services found and seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, 2 cell phones and 3,700 euros.

At the end of the actions in these cases:
- the specialists for the Narcotics Investigation of the Gjirokastra DVP arrested in flagrante delicto the citizen EN, 48 years old, resident of Berat, for the criminal offense "Production and sale of narcotics";
- the specialists for the Crime Investigation of the Gjirokastra DVKM referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office where criminal proceedings were initiated for the citizen I. Gj., 49 years old, resident of Patos, for the criminal offense "Production and possession of hunting and sporting weapons without a permit".

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further action.
