"Bankers" leaders demand freedom in GJKKO
Bankers Petroleum, Leonidha Çobo and Hong Ping Xiao

Bankers Petroleum CEO Hongping Xiao and former director Leonidha Çobo, who have been in prison since July, are seeking a change of sentence in the Criminal Court.

Through their lawyers, Çobo and the Chinese CEO have requested information about the two-month investigation and replacement of the security measure. 

The Fier Prosecution Office declared incompetence for the Bankers file and transferred it to the Special Prosecution Office after several months of investigations revealed new elements related to the criminal offense of corruption, involving high-ranking officials, as well as a structured criminal group.

Investigations by the Fier prosecution began after a report from the Tax Investigation Directorate, which identified the suspected tax fraud scheme.

Meanwhile, Bankers has denied the allegations, stating that it is ready to fully cooperate with Albanian authorities to clarify the matter.
