The next session of the trial on the merits of the "Partizani" case against Sali Berisha, his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, and three other people will take place today.

In July, the Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime rejected the request of the lawyers of Sali Berisha and Malltez, who requested the exclusion of the trial panel composed of judges Elsa Ulliri, Bib Ndreca and Rudina Palloj.

Earlier, the rapporteur of the case, Judge Elsa Ulliri, had also requested her resignation, arguing that she has a relative, former DP MP Andia Ulliri. But her request was also rejected by the GJKKO.

We recall that Berisha is accused of passive corruption, committed in collaboration, while Jamarbër Malltezi is accused of active corruption and money laundering. Fatmir Bektashi, Xhimi Begeja and Andia Pustina are also defendants in this case.

The case concerns the privatization of the former Partizani sports complex in Tirana, which was once owned by the Ministry of Defense. SPAK's investigations allege that this process was conducted illegally and brought unfair benefits to Jamarbër Malltez, the son-in-law of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
