From the investigations so far into the case of the murder of Edoardo Sarchi, the Italian businessman, yesterday morning, it is confirmed that it is not a case of negligent homicide, but an assassination carried out by a person still unknown to the Gjirokastra Police.

The expertise carried out at the scene confirms that the Italian, accompanied by Eqrem Braçi and his two sons, were traveling from the direction of Nivicë to that of Salaria, in Tepelena.

From the testimonies given yesterday at the Gjirokastra Local Police Directorate, the crime scene that occurred in the early hours of yesterday morning in Dilan between Nivica and Salaria has been more or less constructed.

According to the testimonies of four people who were taken as witnesses, it is learned that they were traveling together in two off-road vehicles on the aforementioned axis.

Initially, they heard three shots that were very close, which caused the first Land Rover vehicle, on board which was the Italian businessman and one of the escorts, to stop.

After standing for 2 minutes, another burst was heard, probably in the air.

A person with an automatic weapon appears in front of the road at a distance of 10-15 meters and fires the weapon at the Land Rover's tires without saying a word.

At this moment, the Italian businessman and the other people on board hide behind the vehicle accompanied by screams of fear.

Initially, the front tire of the vehicle was punctured, while the second shot of the automatic weapon by the mysterious person injured the Italian businessman.

It is believed that the latter was injured by a ricocheting bullet that struck him in the femur of his right leg.

After the mysterious aggressor fired his gun, the Italian businessman complained about the wound he received.

The bleeding was heavy from the first moment, while Eqrem Braç's sons notified the police about what had happened, that a mysterious person had shot them with a gun in a place called Dilan.

The police and ambulance arrived at the scene, transporting the Italian's dead body and escorting Eqrem, Gazmend and Daniel Braçi to the police station, as well as Armir Hitoveiz, a shepherd from the village of Nivicë, as a witness.

It is learned that the four people who gave testimony yesterday may be called again in the following days depending on the dynamics of the event.

Gjirokastra police have meanwhile set up four checkpoints in the Kurvelesh area to make it possible to find the perpetrator.

So far, two groups of specialists have been engaged and are combing the area from the scene of the incident to the outskirts of the village of Gusmar in the north and south to the village of Dukaj.

The biggest suspicions are that the perpetrator of the murder fled in a western direction towards Vlora.
