"The world needs hope," the Pope's Easter message: We see
Pope Leo XIV

The solemn celebration of the Easter Mass "The Resurrection of the Lord" in St. Peter's Basilica, presided over by Pope Leo XIV, gathered thousands of believers from all over the world.

At the end of the liturgy, the Pope gave the traditional "Urbi et Orbi" blessing from the central balcony, where messages of peace, hope, and universal brotherhood were not lacking.

“Death is always waiting,” the Pope said in his Easter homily, adding: “We see it present in injustice, in the selfishness of parties, in the oppression of the poor, in the lack of attention to the weakest. We see it in violence, in the wounds of the world, in the cry of pain that rises from all sides for the abuses that oppress the weakest, for the idolatry of profit that plunders the resources of the earth, for the violence of war that kills and destroys. But the Lord is alive and remains with us.”

In his Easter Mass homily, the Pope noted that there is always hope for humanity, even in the midst of darkness and cruelty.

"It is true that it often seems as if God does not exist: we see injustice, wickedness, indifference and cruelty that never diminish. But it is equally certain that in the midst of darkness something new always begins to blossom, which sooner or later bears fruit, because Easter gives us this hope, reminding us that in the risen Christ, a new creation is possible every day."

Easter is " a new beginning, it is life that has finally become eternal by the victory of God. We need this song of hope," Pope Leo concluded his message.
