DNA tests have become increasingly accessible to many people around the world. They are now carried out quickly and at a reasonable price by many international companies.
But a big trend, is that of doing the DNA test to find out the origin. Among them there are also people from the Balkans, who have doubts about their origin, because the region has in some cases suffered a mixture of origins and what is called a loss of origin.
Mainly, a large number of Albanians, from Nis, to Montenegro, North Macedonia and Greece, have lost their Albanian origin, language and traditions over the years, believing that they belong to another nationality.
But science is stubborn!
This was also the case of one of (several) young Serbs, who decided to take a DNA test to find out that he is only 18% Serbian.
He shared the results on social networks.
"The father is a Serb from Montenegro and the mother is a Serb from the north of Kosovo. Here are my pedigree and Gedmatch K36 results. Is this typical?", he writes in surprise, waiting for some "scientist" in the comments to comfort him with pseudo-facts.
His results came out: 43% Albanian (Greek), 39% Balkan (which probably means Kosovar Albanian) and only 18% from Eastern Europe and Russia.
