The French authorities have decided that the Hamzaj family located in Lanester will leave the country due to the lack of documents. According to them, only the daughter of the family, who is a student in Lorient, can stay. For the case of this Albanian family, a local association has also been engaged and has organized a protest gathering about 80 people in front of the prefecture of Vannes.
"We are angry because they are an honest family," said one of the organizers. However, it seems that all efforts could not change the decision.
On the morning of August 29, the members of the Hamzaj family voluntarily presented themselves at the police station. After that, they did not go free. The two parents and 3 of their 4 children boarded a plane that same afternoon and crossed into Albania. Only the eldest daughter, who is studying nursing and has a degree, was able to stay.
"The Minister of the Interior has said that he wants to be good with good people and bad with bad people. In this case, he became bad with good people" - said the supporters of the Hamzaj family. According to them, the Albanian family had left the country 4 years ago, fleeing from insecurity and threats to their lives. After being denied the right to asylum, she was forced to leave French territory.
"An honest family that does not threaten public order. The worst thing is that the family has been separated," laments Christian Le Meut, member of the association Solidarité exiles Hennebont.
"They are 6 members, 2 parents and 4 children, all at school. The eldest, who has the status of a nursing student, has her papers and is free. We are angry because it is an honest family, which in no way poses a threat to public order," he adds.
Supporters of this family say they will "continue the fight" for their return to France.
