No one gives you free money, and Albanians should have learned this from the pyramid schemes of 1997.

But after three decades, the "new trial" is now online. Hundreds of Albanian citizens are falling prey to new pyramid schemes, where they are offered to buy cryptocurrencies that do not exist or are asked to invest money with the claim that within 45 days they will receive 2 times the money they invested.

"We have citizens who will invest, when maturity comes, they are allowed to withdraw their money but they are asked for a commission, or they are asked to bring a new person and he will invest the same amount. Seeing that deposits are increasing again, people will add money, and this goes to the point that members who want to leave the system and bankruptcy is declared at this moment 905 of the people who were part of this scheme will leave without any money," says Besmir Semanaj, IT expert.

Such a phenomenon was also denounced by the SP MP, Erion Braçë, where Divjaka farmers no longer expect money from the land, but from the telephone.

"The largest one has operations centers in Singapore, Hong Kong and South Korea, has been operating for a year and has routinely duped children and the elderly for 1,000 euros, up to 50,000 euros. And the scheme itself forces you to add another person to the scheme within 45 days," says SP MP Erion Braçe.

Customers are found on social media and offers to earn money without breaking a sweat are now made on TikTok.

"Where in certain groups, whether it's WhatsApp or Telegram," says Erion Demiri, IT expert.

"Now whoever wants the new platform can contact me here, you also have the Telegram address, 1000 euros is the minimum deposit."

"And they create such schemes based on official websites and then distribute messages and links where you have the opportunity to deposit money, and the promise remains the same - you will earn money very quickly," says a Tiktok user.

The names of these groups can change at any moment and there is not just one, but hundreds of platforms that are trying to rob Albanians. While the scammers disappear immediately as soon as they realize that their group is being tracked by the blue uniforms./TCH
