A significant amount of cannabis was destroyed in Tropoja this Saturday. The police managed to destroy 3659 cannabis plants cultivated in the villages of Gonpepaj and Upper Curraji. As part of this operation, 2 environmental inspectors were put under investigation in these areas, suspected of the criminal offenses "Misuse of duty" and "Criminal failure".

"Following the anti-cannabis controls, with services from the ground and with drones, the services of the Kukës Local Police Directorate have finalized the second phase of the coded police operation 'Bjeshket e Nemuna', in the framework of which: - in the village of Gjonpepaj , 3,543 more cannabis sativa narcotic plants were found cultivated; in the village of Curraj i Epërm, 116 cannabis sativa narcotic plants were found cultivated," the police announcement states.

The narcotic plants, after performing the procedural actions, were destroyed by burning.

In the meantime, investigative actions continue, with the aim of identifying and arresting the author(s) of this criminal activity.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction in Kukës, for further actions.
