Shkëlzen Metushi has been appointed head of the police station in Kurbini. His appointment comes after the arrest of Dritan Meta, who was arrested during the "Face in the Sea" operation, in connection with involvement in international drug trafficking.

After the arrest yesterday and the appearance in front of the court, Metaj has accepted the acquaintance and meetings with the drug trafficker Gëzim Çela.

According to him, these meetings were after they had previous acquaintances.

"I made a mistake, yes I did, as I knew him earlier and I could not avoid the meeting", he said.

The former police chief of Kurbin, Dritan Metaj, is suspected of being part of the drug trafficking gang from Albania to Italy, helping the wanted drug trafficker Gëzim Çela.

Metaj is suspected of acting as a transporter for members of the criminal group, using his position as a police commissioner to avoid blue uniform checks.

As part of the Flame in the Sea operation, citizens Arben Dalipaj and Roland Guzo were also declared wanted.
