Arjan Ndoja in the Criminal Court for the assassination attempt against him: I

Arjan Ndoja, a DP MP and former prosecutor, has been called to testify in the trial of Amar Shkëmbi, for the assassination attempt on the Shkozet overpass recorded on November 1, 2019, resulting in the death of his driver Andi Maloku.

In his testimony, Ndoja said that there was no doubt about the people who organized the assassination attempt on him, since as he stated, "he does not owe anyone anything nor has he taken revenge on anyone."

Arjan Ndoja's testimony in the Criminal Court

In 2019, I was a prosecutor in Durrës. Apart from the criticism that high-ranking political figures made of me, I did not have any other problems. I owned a family vehicle that was in my wife's name.

A month before the incident occurred, that vehicle was used by the late citizen Andi Maloku.

On November 1, 2019, I left the house as usual at 7 am and went to work with Andi Maloku. Around 12 noon, I left work and headed to the bar called "Koral", after I had been invited for lunch with several people, including Aleksandër Laho.

From 1:00 PM to around 4:00 PM I stayed there. We were in two cars and then we moved towards the Dajlan Bridge. Andi Maloku was driving the car, as I was not feeling well. I was in first place and Aleksandër Laho was behind. He also had his own car, but he came with me to chat.

From the time I left the bar until the time the incident occurred, I didn't notice anything suspicious.

When we passed the tire shop that starts the first kilometer of the highway to the Shkozet bridge, the shots started. My vehicle was on the side of the road with traffic divided. At first I didn't realize that they were gunshots. The shots weren't in a burst, they were separate. There were two guns, as they made different noises and the time interval of the shots was different.

From the time the explosions started until the vehicle left the road, it took about 20 seconds. When the deceased Andi Maloku was injured, he accelerated the car and hit one of the road barriers, ending up outside it.

When we got off the road and the car stopped in the canal, only Andi Maloku was more conscious and he called his father on the phone and said: "Dad, they shot us." When I tried to get out of the car, I lost consciousness and I don't remember anymore. Andi Maloku fell when he opened the door, because apparently he had a bullet in his spine.

I didn't learn even later who shot us. I sent my people to Andi Maloku to inquire about his health. The family doesn't know anything, but the deceased didn't see anything either, since they didn't shoot parallel, but from behind.

Apart from you as the prosecution body or the court decisions, no one has come to meet us and tell us what happened and the reason why this was done.

I do not know the defendants in this trial, but also the co-defendants in a related proceeding. I know Plaurent Dervish by name, as there was a proceeding in Durrës.

I spent my vacation in 2019 in Shëngjin, as I have a house there.

I usually sat for lunch at "Koral" and at a bar "Kamelia" in Shkëmbi i Kavajës. Before the incident, I didn't see anything suspicious. Because of the political attacks, I had doubts that special police services had put me on the spot, because of the famous vetting, which most of you have successfully passed.

I had no doubts, Mr. Prosecutor, because if I had, I wouldn't be sitting on the street waiting for them to lay hands on me. Erjol Halilej, when I saw him in court, I remembered seeing him in Durrës.

No one has come to meet us, but I know that 3-4 people have come to Andi's family to meet. Andi's father knows better, and you have him as a witness. No one has brought me a message. By chance, I met Erjol Halilaj's uncle at the Durrës Court. He told me that he had wanted to come to meet me. I asked him why he wasn't coming, and he said: "Yes, my nephew." I said: "What do you know about the nephew?"
