Ships with the Albanian flag are on the "black list" of the United Arab Emirates and are not allowed to sail in their territorial waters.

Albania is on this list along with countries like North Korea, Tonga, Congo, Guinea and Tanzania. Sao Tome and Belize are also on the list.

Cameroon has recently been added to the list. Ships flying the flag of the Central African state will not be allowed to sail in the waters of the United Arab Emirates, as they play an important role in smuggling Russian oil.

According to reports, hundreds of Russian oil tankers transfer their cargo to ships with the flags of the above countries, falsifying documents to hide the country of origin and avoid Western sanctions. Such activity occurs mainly very close to the coasts of the major ports of Greece.

The UAE Ministry of Energy Infrastructure said ships flying these flags can only travel through UAE waters if they are classified by a member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS), a maritime safety body.

According to Bloomberg, 1% of Russia's smuggled oil is transported by Cameroon-flagged ships.
