The Albanian model Klevisa Ymeri who caused two victims in Croatia will continue to remain in custody.

The decision was taken by the Dubrovnik Court of Appeal.

According to the Croatian media , on July 10, judge Dubravka Gjivanovic made the decision that the 29-year-old Albanian woman could be released from prison if she gave a guarantee of 79,000 euros, but the decision was overturned today on appeal.

The outraged family of the two victims requested the annulment of the decision, a request that was taken into account.

"The defendant is a citizen of the Republic of Albania, she has no family or business ties with the Republic of Croatia, so if she were free, she could leave the territory of the Republic of Croatia and continue her life normally in Albania. "Albania is not a member of the European Union, so it is not obliged to extradite the young woman," noted the defense lawyers of the victims' family.

The accident happened on April 9 at around 20:40 in the city of Ratac, when Ymeri, using a vehicle with Slovakian license plates, overtook the vehicle in front of her, a move that caused a head-on collision with the vehicle in which the two victims were traveling, sister brother, Stefan and Katartina. Both remained dead on the spot, while Ymer suffered minor injuries. After being released from the hospital on April 12, she was transferred to the detention center.

Regarding the dynamics of the event, the defendant's lawyer stated that out of respect for the victims, they did not dispute the fact that Ymeri was kept in custody until now, but they claim that the accusations that she was traveling at 170 km/h are not true and they intend to seek freedom in all the links of the process.
