Shocking accident on the Gjirokastër-Tepelena axis, motorcyclist loses leg after colliding with truck

A serious road accident was recorded this afternoon on the Gjirokastër-Tepelena axis, near the Viroi area.

According to a preliminary police report, at around 17:10, a motorcycle with Greek license plates, driven by citizen Jorland Koçi, collided with a truck, driven by citizen Edlir Kore.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the motorcycle suffered serious leg injuries and was immediately transported to the hospital for medical attention, writes A2CNN. 

The investigation team has arrived at the scene and has initiated procedural actions to fully clarify the circumstances of the accident. Procedural material has been referred to the incident for the criminal offense provided for in Article 290 of the Criminal Code, "Violation of road traffic rules".

Police announcement:

At around 17:30, on the "Gjirokastër-Tepelene" road axis, at the place called "Kthesa e Viroit", a truck-type vehicle driven by citizen EK, 54 years old, resident of Gjirokastër, collided with a motorcycle driven by Greek citizen JK, 34 years old.

As a result, the 34-year-old was injured, who was transported by helicopter to Tirana for more specialized treatment and is currently out of danger.

The driver of the truck was escorted to the police station for further action.

The investigation team is carrying out actions to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
