120 arrests for drugs in Tirana in three months

On average, in a day, 5 people in the capital are identified as consuming a criminal offense related to drugs.

In just the first 3 months of this year, 120 people have been arrested in Tirana for drug trafficking or distribution, while another 280 have been prosecuted at large.

Referring to the statistics, during these 3 months, 52 kg of cannabis and 3000 cannabis seeds were seized in the capital alone. The amount of seized cocaine, which is the most used drug in the capital, is also high. In various operations this quarter, 8.5 kilograms of cocaine were seized.

In addition to traditional cannabis, laboratory cannabis with high TCH, which enters our country through the mail, has also been introduced to the market of distributors in the capital. During this year, the Tirana police have caught 3 cases when drugs were sent by mail from California or Chicago. In order to hide their tracks, the traffickers started the package with narcotics in the name of a person who has passed away or using stolen means of identification.

The increase in drug users, especially young people, has become a serious problem in many societies, which is why the police have undertaken two national operations against distributors. During the past year, 1542 people were identified for this criminal offense in the capital alone./TCH
