Died at the age of 94 Sulejman Maliqati, the "Black Cat" of Albanian football, the Hero of Leipzig, the goalkeeper of Partizan and the Albanian national team, in the period 1950-1964.

"Deserved Master of Sports", "Honour of the Nation", football player, coach, physical education staff, caring father, devoted husband, ideal grandfather, friend and close friend of all Albanians. This is how Sulejman Maliqati will be remembered.

Five days ago, Maliqati fell and was seriously damaged. Despite the care of the doctors, he could not cope with the injuries and did not survive.

Durrës, but also the whole world of sports, will say goodbye to Sulejman Maliqat, the legendary goalkeeper of the Albanian national team, tomorrow.

The tributes to the 94-year-old who closed his eyes this Wednesday afternoon will take place in the lobby of the Palace of Culture in Durrës, at 13.00-15.00.

The funeral procession will leave at 15:00 to the city cemetery, while hundreds of citizens are expected to join the tributes for the "black cat" of the Albanian national team, who was born on August 1, 1928 in the city of Kavaja.

Two years ago, Maliqati was honored by President Meta with the high title "Honour of the Nation", while for his contribution to the sport of football over the years, the legendary goalkeeper was also honored with the title "Honorary Citizen" of Kavaja and "Master of deserving of sport".
