Jack Grealish is lying down, soaking up the sun, enjoying a drink and relaxing on holiday in Greece. He has no idea that he is about to be scammed by a person who, under the pretext of an autograph, makes him sign his personal invoice.
A video that has gone viral on TikTok shows the whole scene, especially how the Manchester City footballer falls into the trap with disarming simplicity. It only takes a little convincing for him to sign that letter; he does so with a smile on his face and then returns to lie on the comfortable sofa, just a few steps from the pool and the crystal sea.
Is it all organized and did the player willingly participate in this prank? It doesn't seem so. In England they are convinced that he fell prey to distraction and superficiality, because he was so relaxed that he didn't realize that the piece of paper he signed wasn't a souvenir for a fan, but something else entirely.
Video of Grealish being tricked by a fan
Grealish, left out of Pep Guardiola's squad for the Club World Cup, has taken a period of rest while waiting to learn his future (there are transfer rumours that, under certain conditions, he could join De Bruyne at Conte's Napoli). The stay in Greece is helping him to regenerate, to clear his head and to overcome the disappointment of being left out, despite still having two years left on his contract with City. It is in this state of complete relaxation that he falls into the trap of the cunning fan.
The footage clearly shows what happened: the short video shows a person approaching the footballer, who welcomes him kindly and happily gives him an “autograph”. In fact, he is signing something completely different… the club’s bill. The scene ends with a handshake and the author of the “joke” returning the notebook to the waiter with the “payment approval” signed by Grealish.
The generosity of the footballer, willing to pay for a "drink"
Is it possible that Grealish was cheated in this way? The tabloids are convinced that he did not understand the situation, but judging by the precedents, it would not be surprising if he himself offered to pay the bill. Last March, he made a nice gift to the customers of a bar: he took out about 600 euros from his pocket and paid for the drinks of everyone who was there at that moment.
