The UEFA Executive Committee held its next meeting in Tirana this afternoon and made several important decisions regarding the future of European football.
Led by UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin, UEFA Executive Committee members voted for Madrid's Estadio Metropolitano as the host venue for the 2027 Champions League final. Warsaw's National Stadium will host the 2027 Women's Champions League final, while the UEFA Super Cup final will be played in Salzburg.
The 2026 Futsal Champions League final will be played in Pesaro, Italy, the UEFA U-19 Futsal final will be played in Astana, while the 2027 Women's Futsal European Championship final will be played in Osijek.
The UEFA EC also took several other decisions and discussed the following issues:
Long-term injuries to players on the pitch in UEFA men's club competitions
The Executive Committee approved an amendment to the regulations for the 2025/26 UEFA men's club competitions to allow the temporary replacement of a maximum of one player on the pitch who suffers a long-term injury or illness during the league phase, up to and including the sixth matchday (matchday) of the competition.
The reason for this change is to ensure that team rosters are not unfairly reduced and that players are protected from additional burdens.
Bonuses for the 2025 UEFA Women's Nations League Finals
The Committee approved a total amount of €1,000,000 for distribution, based on the teams' ranking in the UEFA Women's Nations League Finals, as follows:
Fourth place: 150,000 euros (15% increase)
Third place: 200,000 (20% increase)
Second place: 250,000 euros (25% increase)
First place: 400,000 euros (40% increase)
Request for authorisation to hold national championship matches outside UEFA territory
The Executive Committee discussed the requests from the RFEF (Spanish Football Federation) and the FIGC (Italian Football Federation) to approve the holding of one national championship match each outside their country, in particular outside UEFA territory.
The committee recognized this as an important and growing issue, but expressed a desire to secure the opinion of all stakeholders before a final decision was made.
There are many issues to be resolved and, as the governing body of European football, UEFA has a responsibility to take all such factors into account. As a result, no decision was taken today, but UEFA will undertake a round of consultations with all stakeholders involved in European football, including fans.
