Former Southampton striker Armando Broja has given up his status as a player on loan at Chelsea, which could be the biggest turning point to get his ailing career back on track.
Southampton fans saw Armando Broja get his return ticket to Stamford Bridge in May, something he is quite used to. The centre-forward has represented four different Premier League teams, but St. Mary's was the only place where he looked like the top scorer to feature before any such loan spell.
For an under-25 player who has an image of the academy at Chelsea, Broja knows that his name will not stop being mentioned in the transfer market. However, three poor seasons in a row in the first league need to be fixed.
Goals encourage patience and support, and the Albanian cannot keep his goal list empty and expect teams to continue to believe in him. Especially, not when the 23-year-old comes in the form of a number nine.
Perhaps, this explains why Broja is tying his shoes for the biggest challenge he has faced so far. Leaving Chelsea's position behind, which will hold him more accountable for his performances rather than continuing to ask his parent club to ease loan payments in the Premier League.
In his own words, Fabrizio Romano mentioned where Broja will play, saying: "It's over between Armando Broja and Chelsea: understand that the transfer to Burnley will be permanent."
Additionally, Saints will find it brave to see him fight for survival in the Premier League as they take first-choice Zian Flemming for the striker role. Four years ago, Broja had to rival a great player in the Championship, Adam Armstrong, to make up for Danny Ings' regular strikes.
And although the first could not be the Saints' Golden Shoe, he produced the best scoring figures in the first trio.
At Burnley, the minimum requirement for Broja should be to score ten times, which often secures the claim of top scorer in a team in the last five or even just below the middle of the table. The first game for him will be against Tottenham, let's see if he starts quickly.
