Summer is the kingdom of the football transfer market. Fans dream, there is news every day in abundance. Every club tries to strengthen. High-level teams have more opportunities to spend. English clubs are historically the richest, along with Real Madrid. Only no one is like Chelsea. But among the clubs that have spent the most in history is Juventus, which ranks third among the most spending clubs ever. Italy also has Inter in the top ten and Milan and Roma in the top 15.
Chelsea ahead of Manchester City
Chelsea is the team that has spent more than any other in the history of the football transfer market. Just think of the Abramovich era, but also of this current one with American president Todd Boehly. The “Blues” have spent over 4 billion euros, or 4.18 billion. The most expensive player ever for the Londoners is Enzo Fernandez, paid 121 million euros (the eighth most expensive player in history). After him comes Manchester City, which in the last twenty years has not skimped on any coach, neither with Mancini, nor with his successors Pellegrini and especially with Pep Guardiola. City has spent 3.23 billion euros.
Juventus, then United and Real
In third place is Juventus, which, considering its long and successful history, has invested 3.18 billion euros in the transfer market. An impressive figure. The most expensive purchase ever for the Bianconeri is Cristiano Ronaldo (117 million), followed by Higuain (90), de Ligt (85), Vlahovic (83) and Arthur (80). Then come Manchester United (3.02 billion) and Real Madrid (2.90), which occupy the fourth and fifth place respectively among the most spending clubs ever in the transfer market.
Barcelona and PSG ahead of Inter
The top ten, according to Transfermarkt data, continues with the sixth place of Barcelona (2.81 billion) and the seventh place of Paris Saint-Germain (2.61), which in the last fifteen years has become one of the richest clubs in Europe and consequently in the world. Paris, like Chelsea and Manchester City, has benefited from new owners who have not spared. The French in 2017 bought Mbappé and Neymar for a total of 402 million euros. The last major purchase was Kvaratskhelia, paid 75 million euros.
In eighth place is Inter, the second Italian club (2.60 billion). The top ten is closed by Liverpool (2.51), which this summer alone has spent over 300 million euros! The Premier League champions have bought Frenchman Ekitike and Florian Wirtz. In tenth place is Tottenham (2.33 billion).
Arsenal, Milan, Bayern in the top 15
The eleventh to twentieth positions belong to Arsenal (2.27), Milan (2.24), which is in twelfth place; the expenses during Berlusconi's presidency have been huge, considering the stars that have been bought in those three decades, Atletico Madrid, Roma (in fourteenth place with 1.95 billion), Bayern Munich and Napoli (in sixteenth place with 1.62 billion). Then come Newcastle, West Ham, Aston Villa and Monaco.
