A football player of Fulham, a team that plays in the Premier League, has been arrested in France.

Defender Issa Diop was jailed after threatening his wife and is currently being held in a cell in the city of Toulouse.

French media say that Diop and his partner are in the middle of a divorce process.

During an argument, it is thought that the French footballer threatened to kill the woman, who reported him to the police.

Issa Diop defended himself by saying that he did not take the threats seriously.
