The former head of the Central Election Commission, Kristaq Kume , has praised the diaspora vote as a very positive development for Albanians abroad.

Invited to News 24 , he emphasized that registering to vote is not difficult, while also expressing his own surprise at this process.

He said that he finds it strange why those living in Albania cannot vote with an expired ID card, while those in the diaspora can.

"The diaspora vote is a positive development. This is because Albanians abroad have not previously had the opportunity to vote."

It was a patriotic duty and I don't see it as something great, but something that neighboring countries have done and it was time for us to do it too.

Albanians have expressed a very high interest in exercising their right to vote.

Registration is not difficult. If you don't know how to do it yourself, you can ask someone to register you.

The Albanian wonder lies in the fact that why I, who live in Albania and whose ID card has expired, did not vote and he voted in Paris, I do not understand this kind of behavior.

"It may be an invalid ID, but the ID shows that this person is me," Kume told News 24.
